Tiny things can coalesce to form something much larger and significant. It happens all the time, and the accumulation of sonic bleeps, rim shots and tight cymbals of Telepathe’s 2009 album ‘Dance Mother’ was an applied demonstration of this. Then it all went quiet, until now. The Brooklyn darkwave duo (Busy Gangnes and Melissa Livaudais) are releasing their first fresh material in three years in the form of Destroyer. The single is set for release on 30 October on David Sitek’s Federal Prism label with a full second album to follow. Sitek has also mixed the single and it’s being released as part of a series of limited edition 12″ picture discs. Not only that, but Destroyer will be backed with a remix by none other than Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor. If Destroyer is anything to go by, it sounds like Telepathe have nurtured the intense, tightly wound pop of their first album and drawn out of it a much bigger and accomplished sound, without loosing their sinister edge. In short, it sounds like Telepathe have come of age.
