Beck set to release two new records in 2013 (maybe).

BeckAfter this years’ Song Reader you’d be forgiven for thinking the chances of Beck ever releasing a ‘conventional’ album again were far from happening. Well, according to an interview with the NME, the American king of quirk has hinted at, not one, but two possible releases in 2013. Beck’s last studio album Modern Guilt was released back in 2008 and since then things have been pretty quiet (Song Reader, a collection of original songs released exclusively on sheet music, notwithstanding).

He revealed to the magazine:

“There is music and it’s coming! I have this one record I started in 2008. I’m not sure if they’ll be singles or EPs or an album but it’ll come out in some way and it sounds… sonically adventurous. I also have a record that I recorded last year in Nashville, which I may or may not finish.”

Beck only released a handful of recorded tracks this year; the one-off 7″ single ‘I Just Started Hating Some People Today’/’Blue Randy’ released on Jack White’s Third Man records and three tracks for the Playstation 3 game Sound Shapes
