Spotlight: Voltage Black – ‘We, The Obsolete’

VoltBlk press shotSomething is about to happen to your brain. Don’t worry, embrace it, because London based sonic pioneers Voltage Black will take care of you. The band are set to release the single ‘We, The Obsolete’ on 25 March, and it’s a gloriously mind-bending experience. Voltage Black is the brain child of London based producer Ewan Fisher, who gets busy in his lab of sonic experiments before showcasing the results live where he’s accompanied by drummer James Milton. The outfit have been steadily gathering attention recently, including some impressive radio play courtesy of Steve Lamacq and Mark Ryan.

‘We, The Obsolete’ takes you on a journey through a crunchy sonic soundscape, not dissimilar to the likes of Fuck Buttons, before dropping you off with bursts of squidgy Animal Collective-esque optimism. All the while the sinister vocoded vocals rise from the depths of the track like an Orwellian mantra. It’s the perfect balance of good and evil… in your ears.

‘We, The Obsolete’ is out 25 March via all respectable download outlets, including the Voltage Black Bandcamp page. In the meantime, you can listen to the track below.

Voltage Black are playing a number of live shows throughout the UK in support of the release, including the single launch party at the Buffalo Bar, London on 19 March. Full details HERE.
