Watch: MONEY – ‘Bluebell Fields’

MONEY-byJulienBourgeois02smaller-940x400It looks like Manchester has done it again. The city that birthed The Smiths et. al. has now produced MONEY. No, I’m not talking about a sudden rise in cash flow, I’m talking about the guitar driven four piece that are creating a seriously intense stir, the ripples of which are being felt far beyond their native turf. MONEY embody that spirit of baggy psychedelia reminiscent of those Tony Wilson funded Hacianda days. But that’s not to say they’re that easy to pin down. ‘Bluebell Fields’, the first single to be taken from their forthcoming debut album (out this summer on Bella Union), is a shot of blissed-out, reverb-drenched melody that sounds like MGMT taking MDMA with Ian McCulloch. And the video is the perfect accompaniment. You’ll see what I mean when you watch it below.

MONEY will be playing at these glorious places over the summer:

Sunday 9 June – BIRMINGHAM – Hare & Hounds
Monday 10 June – GLASGOW – King Tuts
Tuesday 11 June – LIVERPOOL – Leaf
Thursday 13 June – LONDON – The Waiting Room
Friday 14 June – HEBDEN BRIDGE – Trades Club
Friday 12 July – MANCHESTER – Manchester International Festival (Festival Square & Pavilion Theatre)
Saturday 13 July – MANCHESTER – Manchester International Festival (Festival Square & Pavilion Theatre)
