You might be forgiven for making a few assumptions about Party House. Their name (to me, anyway) suggested a foray into some frat house shenanigans and maybe even an impromptu dance off or two. What I wasn’t expecting was a blast of blissful thought provoking shoegaze pop. This is exactly what I got.
Hailing from Minneapolis, Party House encapsulate a serene style that could only be associated with the ‘City of Lakes’. Their new track ‘Tonight’ reels in the type of straightforward songwriting and emotive, melodic melancholy found in the likes of Band of Horses and Mazzy Star, all the while adding a unique pop hue to the proceedings. ‘Tonight’ is the type of track that transports you to a secluded dirt road under a blinking sky. Beautiful and serene.
