As if Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon wasn’t prolific enough, he’s now gone and produced a second album with his Volcano Choir project. The genesis of the band was a sort of ad-hoc collaboration between Vernon and Wisconsin based band Collections of Colonies of Bees, who both spent most of 2009 sending demos to each other resulting in Volcano Choir’s debut album Unmap. After that happened, most people thought that would be that. A one off.
Well, it turn out this was not the case. News has broken that Vernon and Collections of Colonies of Bees are all set to release Volcano Choir’s sophomore album. Entitled Repave, it sounds like it’s going to be as gloriously atmospheric and as generously tentative as their first. The album is slated for release on 03 September on Jagjaguwar, and the band have released an insightful teaser video for the album, as well as an official audio video for lead single ‘Byegone’.
