Following the release of her delectable sophomore album Cerulean Salt, Katie Crutchfield, currently producing music under the moniker Waxahatchee, has produced a video for her new single ‘Misery Over Dispute’, out 20 October on Wichita and it’s an apt choice of track. The song perfectly encapsulates the forlorn sentiments of love and loss that run through the album, but delivers all this in a typically uplifting way, albeit by way of a scuzzed-up guitar and soaring, scratchy vocals, all of which add an undoubtable heft of charm to the proceedings.
The video features Crutchfield tap dancing, which is one of her childhood passions apparently (she’s pretty good at it, too) and the grainy black and white instills a dark mood to the clip, all of which fits together perfectly to form 2 minutes of emotionally rapacious beauty – kind of like a butterfly punching you in the face.
