I always get slightly conflicted feelings when I find a group of people who are impossibly young and impossibly talented at the same time. I suppose it’s part jealousy and part wonder, but either way, The Districts are one such group of people. Despite being merely teenagers, their sound is drenched in a timeless maturity hard to find these days. The band have just signed to Mississippi based label Fat Possum, and are set to release their self titled EP on 27 January next year.
The songs on the EP are delivered with a confident, bluesy strut and melodic self awareness that could make the likes of Band Of Horses and Cold War Kids throw their instruments in the nearest trash can and give up music for good.
The track ‘Funeral Beds’ was premiered earlier this year and hit ‘viral’ status in a matter of hours, which is hardly surprising when you hear the intense build of the track and emotive drive it creates. In fact, listen for yourselves below and we guarantee you’ll be hitting the replay button more than once.
