Ahead of the single’s official release on 12 May, riotous Scottish duo Honeyblood have produced a video for their track ‘Killer Bangs’. It’s safe to say we feel an immediate affinity with the coiffure based title of this song here at Killer Ponytail, but the reason we’re such fans has a lot more to do with the song’s no-holes-barred, catchy rock ‘n’ roll.
Honeyblood have a knack for creating pop infused nuggets of fuzzy rock and ‘Killer Bangs’ is certainly no exception. The track paces along with assured urgency and has a hook that’s so infectious it will be rolling around your brain for days. The performance based video is a slick affair, shot in B-movie style monochrome, and the cuts of the band exploring a suburban landscape embody the gritty, yet carefree sentiment of the track.
Honeyblood have finished putting the final touches to their debut album and it’s now slated for release on 14 July on Fat Cat. The album was recorded in just 10 days at Tarquin Studios, owned by legendary producer Peter Katis (The National, Interpol) and if ‘Killer Bangs’ is anything to go by, the results will be as fiercely energetic as they are engrossing.
Honeyblood play the Great Escape Festival this weekend before heading off on tour in support of Courtney Barnett. Check out the tour dates here.
