Watch: Great Ytene – ‘Hunter’

Great Ytene resizedHailing from the wilds of England’s New Forest, the ancient name for which also serves as their moniker, Great Ytene are a band that are difficult to define. Having served up their genre bending self titled EP on Bella Union back in March, they’ve now followed up with a video for spooky stand-out ‘Hunter’. The track swirls with a psychedelic glory and pulses with reverb drenched guitar as lead singer Leon Diaper’s trippy vocals imbibe the song with the resonant ghost of The Byrds, if they were somehow fused, Siamese-like, with The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

The video is a rush of black and white, blurry performance based cuts overlaid with Diaper’s face, rippling in kaleidoscopic reverence. It’s as though you’ve taken him up on an invitation to travel directly into his mind, and there’s now no escape. And if ‘Hunter’ is anything to go by, that’s no bad thing.

Watch the video for ‘Hunter‘ below.
