We think it’s safe to say Bath based five piece The Bronze Medal appreciate the concept of taking your time. The band’s new track ‘Tunnel’ is an exercise in musical restraint resulting in a mesmerisingly intense and affecting experience. The track slowly builds with washes of reverb heavy guitar and long distance omnichord drones, converging into ever increasing frenetic beats.
Produced by Vageir Sigurosson (Brian Eno, Sigur Ros, Feist), the etherial nature of the track calls to mind the likes of The National and Bon Iver with hints of post-rock aficionados Mogwai.
It’s the first taste of the band’s debut album Darlings, which is slated for release this September, and if ‘Tunnel’ is anything to go by, it’s going to be a record worth waiting for.
