Premiere: Tape Waves – ‘Looking Around’

tape waves field shotIf there’s one word that sums up South Carolina duo Tape Waves, it’s definitely ‘vibes’. And those ‘vibes’ encompass a landscape of sunshine infused dream pop that could only be the product of traveling around making music with the one you love. After setting the bar high with the release of their debut EP last year, husband and wife duo Kim and Jarod Weldin have now put the final touches to their debut album Let You Go, which is set for release on 28 July on Bleeding Gold Records.

Ahead of the album’s release, we are very excited to premiere the album track ‘Looking Around’, which sits towards the end of the record in all its woozy summertime glory. It’s the musical equivalent of Best Coast hanging out with Slowdive under a palm tree, watching the water lapping at their feet.

Tape Waves create the kind of music made for a ride along the seafront with the top down and the warm breeze blowing through your hair. It’s all sublime, reverb drenched guitars, surf style beats and Kim’s delicate vocals echoing through the mix. Tape Waves are summer distilled into perfectly formed nuggets of dream pop guaranteed to transport you straight onto the nearest beach, the intensity of teenage love ringing in your ears.

Listen to ‘Looking Around‘ below. Let You Go is released on 28 July. Pre-order the album here.
