Ellen A. Sundes, who goes by the moniker Sea Change, is probably Norway’s best kept secret. But with the imminent release of her debut album Breakage (slated for release on 23 February), that’s no doubt all about to change. Sundes has a knack for forging intricate melodies layered with ambient beats and etherial vocals that can’t help but evoke the engaging beauty of her home country.
Her album may not be out for a while yet, but hot on the scintillating heels of her previous track ‘Above‘, Sundes has released another taste of things to come in the form of ‘Squares’.
The track is a criss-cross of analogue warmth, shimmering with waves of reverb-drenched vocals that sway into action over smooth, crunchy beats splashed with sinister acid-wash dub. It’s as exhilarating as it is ominous.
