Just when you thought it wasn’t possible for everyone’s favourite bearded pedlar of smooth synth sounds to be any more prolific, Chet Faker has released another slice of new material. ‘Bend’ was the product of the recording sessions for his latest Built on Glass album but failed to make the final cut. Nevertheless, Faker has seen fit to release the track as a stand alone single in the wake of the his recent tour.
Faker says this of the track:
“‘Bend’ was on Built on Glass until the last minute. I recorded it in 2013 and kinda wanted to put it out since. It’s always felt like a part of Built on Glass and since [the upcoming Australian] tour is the sort of live “director’s cut” of the album it made sense to release this before it lost context.”
‘Bend’ has all the hallmarks of Faker’s late night aesthetic, sliding effortlessly along with washes of wobbly synths and an slick vocals. The track sees the funk aspects tweaked a little further that its would be brothers and sisters on Built on Glass, but ‘Bend’ is undoubtedly delivered with typical sub-zero cool.
‘Bend’ will be released on 26th June via Future Classic/Opulent. Chet Faker continues to tour across Europe, including a stop at Glastonbury Festival on 26 June. Dates here.
