It may be approaching the close of 2015, but it looks like Athens GA based Mothers have come out with a contender for song of the year.
Taken from the band’s forthcoming debut When You Walk A Long Distance You Are Tired, ‘Too Small For Eyes’ is a microcosm of heartache and redemption. Skeletal mandolin tones resonate with an aching melancholy that only escalates as vocalist Kristine Leschper’s quivering delivery takes hold.
A slew of soaring string stabs lift the track into the atmosphere and lay bare a kind of emotive beauty, proving that Mothers are more than capable of delivering some seriously spine-tingling gorgeousness.
The band have had their debut album in their collective pocket for nearly twelve months, having completed the record with Drew Vandenberg (Of Montreal, Deerhunter, Porcelain Raft) at the end of last year. But the album has at last found a home.
The band have just been snapped up by those fine folks at Wichita Recordings who will be releasing WYWALDYAT on 26th February next year.
