If you don’t know about Courtney Barnett‘s knack for observational lyrical quips by now, we’re not sure where you’ve been. But even by her usual standards, ‘Three Packs A Day’ has to be one of the most charming and quirky tracks Barnett has produced in a long time.
‘Three Packs a Day’ is Barnett’s ode to those cheap packets of instant ramen noodles, a staple of students and struggling musicians the world over. Despite the fact that she’s certainly not struggling anymore, it turns out Barenett still has a lot of love for the MSG laced snack.
The track ambles along with a smooth breezy melody that sounds like it could fit comfortably alongside anything the Lemonheads have produced (a band to which Barnett has paid homage in the past) and the track proves to be as addictive as the snack itself.
‘Three Packs A Day‘ is set to be released on the forthcoming Milk! Records compilation Good For You on 14 February. Listen to the track below.
